Anything Possible

This was a Community Renewal Fund (CRF) funded project and we looked at 3 key areas.

Producing feasibility study for assessing benefits of a Work and Enterprise club.

The purpose of the feasibility study is to ascertain if Work and Enterprise Clubs can provide a conducive environment that essentially provides the unemployed a place to meet, exchange skills, share experiences, find opportunities, make contacts and get support to help them in their return to work. As part of this activity we delivered mentoring sessions to individuals from the community and supported them in preparation for employment.

Producing a feasibility study for the establishment of volunteer mental health champions/ambassadors.

Mental health champion take action to raise awareness of mental health and challenge stigma. Within the South Asian Community mental health is a taboo subject as it leads to stigma. This is when the community make assumptions about how a mental health problem will affect someone’s behaviour. In turn, this makes it more likely that they will be labelled as different, strange, or even dangerous. The aim of this feasibility study is to ascertain if mental health champions can be an aid to addressing a taboo subject especially in the Pakistani community.

Digital Literacy

Digital Literacy is a major concern for elders within the Asian Community for elders. This project aim is to engage the elderly to make them aware of the basics where they are able to turn on their equipment, set it up and understand the legal terminology. Once these individuals have the confidence, this is when we can are able to develop their digital skills through the Barclays Eagles programme.
